black as night

Usually I love New England. And I've been here for 22 years, so one might think I'd be used to it too. Maybe I just have a bad memory...every year, I am surprised by just how early it gets dark and how quickly I feel cold to my bones (all the way to my bones!). This year, I'm learning the hard way that after work blog pictures are really nothing to write home about. So instead I'll blog? Which my mom reads, so it's almost like writing home.

Enough rambling, here are my poorly lit outfit photos:

Happy weekend everyone! It's been a very busy week (but we served almost 2000 Thanksgiving food baskets) and I am o-so-ready for some weekend fun.

OK Alright

Hey there blogosphere, guess we've been taking an unintended break. I've been busy: the election and 3 very important ballot questions in MA; Guster concert, Matthew Bourne's Swan Lake, and Halloween in NYC with my sister; a couple events in Boston including seeing everyone from WomensTrust; and a month something like work work life work something-special work sleep-needed repeat. It's been great, really - the major highlight was seeing Guster with my sister, something we have wanted to do forever.
I love Guster's new album, Easy Wonderful. You can hear it on the Whole Foods Blog here

I been so busy, I really haven't taken many outfit photos although I've been doing a decent bit of shopping to transition my last winter's college student wardrobe to this fall and winter's business casual work wardrobe. Here's a few photos from the past month, with a promise that I'll be photographing my new outfits and posting more soon!

I'm not doing this 30 for 30, because I'm just not sure I have the time to be blogging that much, but I'm excited to watch everyone else. So many bloggers are taking the challenge this round!

so-so outfits and style speak on the street

This outfit didn't turn out exactly as I pictured, but on my walk home, a girl me she liked it. Way to make my day, thanks! So:
1. sometimes the perfect in your head, not perfect in the mirror outfit is perfect on the street
2. if you walk by someone wearing a great outfit, tell me. it's like smiling at random people on the street, it makes everyone's day better and spreads happiness. :-)

and 3. a trench coat always makes an outfit that much better.

pants mystery: solved

Ladies and Gents (or just ladies, gents speak up if you're reading!), the disappearing pants mystery has been solved. They were - prepare yourself for a dull story line - in my apartment building's laundry room. Someone had even folded them for me. Yep. I feel a bit like a drama queen for being so sure they were gone.

Here's what a wore a couple of days ago:

Goodnight all :-)

appearing sun

I took these pictures moments after each other, but the sun beautifully appeared for the later shots:

It's a busy week and I just don't really have much too say except that I liked this outfit:-) Happy Tuesday everyone!

the mysterious case of the missing pants

Well, dear blogging community, I have some sad news. The jeans shown below, yes those nicely dark perfect fit skinnies, seem to be missing. I obviously wore them recently but when I tried to pull them out of my closet yesterday, they were no where to be seen.

There is good news: the scarf and skirt (likely not replaceable if lost) are in tact and in my closet. In fact, I wore the scarf today. The jeans, though loved, can likely be replaced for $20 or $30 at Macy's. $24.99 to be exact.

Still, I am sad.

In better news, I had a delightful fall weekend including the Big E, stART on the Street, and apple picking!

the last completely summer outfit?

These pictures are from almost 2 weeks ago...and I have worn o-so-many cute transitional summer-fall outfits since then, most of which I neglected to photograph (but will inevitably where again, because my closet is not endless).

This is quite possibly my last summer outfit of the season - no nylons/tights/leggings and sweaters or jackets or layers in any form necessary for me to be warm enough. I'm planning to wear this dress tomorrow (see the not endless closet reference above), but with leggings, a scarf, and boots. The days are still summery....for about about 5 hours on good day.

Anyway, the outfit:

and a close-up on my new short hair

Lots of exciting weekend activities in September (this past weekend included), pictures to come!

if I could, I would

Go on a shopping spree on topshop.com. Even though I can't, I'll still pick out what I want:

Even with all the sparkly dresses and pretty shoes, I think the thing I want the most is the duck shirt!

shades of neutral?

I swear there is some color in this outfit - a little pink and a little green in the shirt and a tinge of pink in the shoes. A lot of gray, but we all know how much I (and every other blogger, or at least the ones I read) love gray lately.

So this is my new skirt from Gap and I was super-duper pleased with this outfit! Comfy all day, felt pretty, lots of compliments kind of outfit.

Pockets!

O, yeah, and this is when my house starting tilting as I was taking my blog photos.
Ok, not really, this is when I got a little silly:-p

PS - I cut my hair today! Pictures to come, of course.

inspiration: I need dark-ish plum tights

Just saw this image on the Clothes Horse and have determined that I don't just want plum-colored tights, I need them. See, these tights can be so easily paired with basic black and gray items (read: pencil skirts) for a fun, cute pop of color that's still professional and adult-ish.

An online shopping trip at We Love Colors or Hue might have to happen soon.
