I've always listed The Sartorialist as one of my favorite blogs, but I've had a resurgence of love for it recently. As a photographer, I really admire the portraiture. It's not just good style being documented, the photography is a style on its own. These three portraits from the past few weeks are inspiring me as a photographer more than anything else.




Ok, this last picture is also a hair color inspiration. It is perfect.


(On that note, I will continue to dress like a slob and watch a lot of TV because it is spring break! On Monday I'll snazz it up and make someone take my picture in Dallas!)

It is officially spring break and the sun is actually shining in my window! I'm in NYC visiting my family and Anna is in Texas visiting someone special so posts will probably be a little delayed. Here's some slightly old outfit pics:

I really liked this outfit, but I don't love the pictures...

...and I love these pictures, but this outfit was only so-so. 

grandma sweater

I have this great white crop cardigan with gold woven in it that I bought for almost nothing at a thrift store. My boyfriend says it looks looks like my grandmother's, which I take a compliment whether he means it that way or not... 

The first pictures are actually of the same outfit I wore for the 2010 hours party, except earlier in the day with the sweater and a scarf and an umbrella, since it was gross outside. 

my rain boots and my favorite umbrella clash sort of horribly, but its one of those instances when I don't care - any extra color on a gray, rainy day is always good.

I am one short response paper and two classes away from spring break and I could not be more excited!

scarlet fever

Thursday night began Clark's graduation celebration with the "2010 Hours Until Graduation" party. The theme was Scarlet Fever (scarlet and white are Clark's colors).

Wouldn't it be great if there were always colored streamers and brick walls whenever we wanted to take outfit pictures? A girl can dream...

The end of this week and spring break marks the halfway point of the semester...we are getting so close! 

Hire Me?

A couple of weeks ago I posted about what I was planning to wear to a career fair - senioritis job search. I ended up wearing a blue shirt instead of white. I wore boots because it is still February and the weather would not allow open shoes and dry feet.

Yes, I cut my face out of the pictures...I don't know if I was nervous or what exactly but my face looks funny in all the photos haha. 

Here's what I wore later that day to be "business casual" and comfy for work.

All in all, I love the outfit and actually wore it to another career fair last week - both were successful. I just wish I had a better picture of the tweed jacket. It has such great fabric and buttons and I love it!

I've become kind of obsessed with Emily Fitch. She's on the British TV show Skins which is one of my favorite shows, though I have to watch it illegally online because I no longer live in England...she's played by Kathryn Prescott, who is utterly gorgeous.

I am obsessed with her hair and wardrobe on the show. And her voice, but that's less easy to recreate. I want that hair so bad, and I think I'll dye mine that color soon. (God, I hope I don't regret it!)


And the clothes they put her in on the show are the epitome of what I wish I could wear every day. It's very girly and whimsical, but also kind of carefree and badass. Which is basically her character in a nutshell.

cats and dogs

It is pouring buckets today. And cats and dogs. And every other rain metaphor you can think of. Basically, it's gross. It reminds me of when I was in Milan, and it was pouring and freezing and so windy my umbrella broke. Only it's not that bad today, but it's worse because I'm not in Milan. Which is where I took the above picture of the cutest little boy ever. He knows how to deal with the rain!

I also found some really lovely pictures with umbrellas on Tip Toes on Weardrobe, and they are inspiring me despite the rain. I wish I had so many lovely umbrellas! And maybe a rainbow Mickey Mouse one too.

weekend wants

I spent the weekend visiting friend, family, a new little baby (!) at home, as well grant writing and job searching. I was busy and I don't have any outfit pictures, but there are always pretty things on the Anthropologie website:
