purple outfit, purple flowers

it has been so humid and muggy outside, we've had to have up-dos and wear flimsy things.

lovely hair twist!!

work attire and shoes. sasha's feet, anna's feet. our favorite shoes.

and now for something completely different! an outfit for a gay club!

a sample of the silver screen

The other day I went to the movies and realized that I love trailers almost as much, if not more than I love movies themselves. It was this trailer for Where the Wild Things are that really triggered my realization:

In the past, I've gotten obsessed with trailers and watched them over and over again.

AND here are some trailers for upcoming movies that I CAN NOT wait for.

and this one which isn't on YouTube

one of the reasons why

I've been reading The Clothes Horse for a while now, and I've been loving her posts & pictures even more lately. Today marks two years of her blog! She has quite a nice recap post here.

a week in the life

we haven't posted in a while because we've been living our lives and now we'd like to share them with you.

we work together during the week, and play together almost every weekend (when we aren't living the life of jetsetters.) this past weekend was spent on sasha's part at home in new hampshire and on anna's part visiting friends in new york. so here's what happened the week prior!

on saturday day we went to a friend's birthday party, which resulted in some headache-y sleepy-ness the following day. (that is not coffee in that dunkin donuts mug...) ihop and naps in the sun didn't quite cure us, so we dragged ourselves for some delcious vietnamese food on sunday night.

then we went to work all week. sometimes it's just too much work to put together a nice outfit when you don't want to be getting out of bed in the morning, but here are some of our better mornings. mumble, the adorable cat, is pia's. and he loves cute clothes just about as much as a feline can.

now we are enjoying a monday evening drink and some raspberries, while listening to andrew bird.

gin + lemonade + basil = yummy

night night!

priceless

This weekend I finally got around to watching the movie Priceless or Horx de Prix (the French title) with Audrey Tautou and Gad Elmaleh. I first saw the trailer a couple of years ago and got the poster for free at a movie theatre in New York City, but I had never gotten around to watching it. Then last week I saw the DVD nearly hidden in the 50% off used DVD shelf at Hollywood Video! I couldn't resist as it was $5.99 and I felt kind of guilty having the poster up in my room without actually having seen the movie.

Here's the (very cheesy Americanized) trailer:

It was a cute movie, very predicdible and similar to most other French romantic comedies that I've seen. The basic gist of the movie is that two penniless people fall in love and run away together, leaving behind their sugar mommies and daddies. But I walked away from the movie wishing I could have someone footing the bill of a life of shopping, dining, and luxuriating on the French Riviera. And wishing that I was as stunningly gorgeous as Audrey Tautou.

These are the only pictures I can find that show Audrey in all her slinky, sexy glory.

All I want is to walk around France in loose, classic dresses and strappy heels. Someone find me a benefactor!

fun things!

it's a beautiful sunny day, but I am stuck inside at work in an overly air conditioned building. here's some links we enjoyed.

"Oh Snap! Our Step-By-Step Guide To Getting Shot By The Sartorialist" from The Pipeline

a video from childhood flames that I really like. we might start taking a few of our own videos...

a dusty dress post that uses math and I'm actually ok with it.

time to eat an apple.

the other day when it was (still) cold

Anna has just posted some lovely outfits and mentioned the beautiful sunny day (!) but on thursday is was like fall still. these outfits reuse a couple of items because we love them so.

i bought this vest for a dance show because i really wanted an excuse for a vest. the scarf is from a vendor that often comes to our university center with the most beautiful scarves. the jacket is a repeat of my recent very cheap and delightful forever twenty one purchase.
this isn't the best picture, but i was trying to wear the scarf in one big circle. pia didn't love the look, anna did, and i definitely think it's worth more experimenting.

i'm not really sure if there is a story behind much of anna's outfit besides that she looks beautiful. the scarf is actually the scarf i borrowed from her in our first outfit post.

great glasses necklace, don't you think?
we both had a whole host of great outfits yesterday, because we were photographed for a Clark photo shoot for the viewbook and other publicity (and got paid for it, since we work in admissions). sadly, we didn't get to take our own pictures.

saturday laziness

THE WEATHER IS FINALLY NICE! It's literally amazing. Of course, I did just buy a blazer at Savers (for $7!) and desperately want to wear it, but can't really because it's too warm. But I wore it today anyway. Just for funsies and sweatiness. Paired it with my favorite ever bubble skirt from H&M and my dream gladiators, plus some sunnies to guard from the powerful (yay!) sunshine.

Anna, my delightful and same-named roommate, and I went to Old Navy and the Gap today in search of new jeans which we both really need. My only blue jeans have a huge rip in the knee, making them forbidden at work, and it's getting kind of difficult to go to without jeans at work.

Sadly, my body is oddly proportioned and none of the jeans I tried on looked good. All I want are some nice skinny jeans! Is that so much to ask? Apparently so. I'm going to try TJ Maxx and Marshalls next, and if I have no success there I will have to suck it up and pay full price for jeans at Urban Outfitters. Le Sigh.

(Other) Anna looked adorable in her brown flowy skirt from Salvation Army and navy v-neck shirt. Couldn't resist snapping a few shots of her being wind-blown and carefree!

jackets and boots for summer, a sad state of affairs

so here's the beginning of our outfit posts. we're also going to try to do some street shots of people around our college campus and around worcester, if we can develop the balls to go up to people. sasha and i are working on it! we'll probably start by including some friends and co-workers....

this is what we wore to go out to a sushi dinner (at the greatest restaurant ever, baba) and our friend's housewarming party!

sasha just got this jacket on an amazing sale at forever 21 and has been incorporating it into almost every outfit she wears lately. it's lucky for her it's so cold out for july. if only the weather would get nicer, we could wear our lovely summer clothes and save things like jackets for the appropriate seasons.

i am benefitting clothing-wise from the weather as well, because i've been getting to wear my floral docs! i think they are definitely proliferating in popularity thanks to some other awesome bloggers and i can't resist something british and flowery.

the jacket is one of my prized possessions, it used to belong to my grandmother, who had amazing fashion sense. i have a few of her winter coats too. i love a denim jacket that has a little something extra, like puffed sleeves, embroidery, or both.

also, here's an extra special cameo by our adorable friend pia, in her adorable grey dress! it looks like it's right out of "mad men." and paired with fishy rainboots, you get classic pia.

and from LOOKBOOK
